Forums & Networks

VCAT has successfully coordinated a number of networks and forums where voluntary and community groups were able to share ideas and best practice.

As well as regular e-bulletins, the networks meet to discuss items of interest. Although aimed primarily at the voluntary and community sector (VCS) all networks had strong links with local statutory partners.

VCAT has recently reviewed its support and services to the sector with regards to enabling their voice to be heard and be represented. As the result of consultation with our members, a Third Sector Assembly has been established to enable voluntary and community groups to meet to discuss issues of common concern and action plan how to resolve these in collaboration with other partners. To find out how to join or for further information, contact Mark Nesbitt on 0161 872 8563 or email

There are a number of Trafford-based VCS networks and forums opened to the sector such as:

FASNET: Managed by VCAT, this is a virtual network of voluntary, community and faith sector groups working with children, young people and and families in Trafford.

FASNET provides opportunities for exchanging information by e-bulletins and shares good practice through a range of training and other events.

FASNET works closely with the Trafford Safeguarding Children Board and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

FASNET meet as and when required to address its members' issues and interests.
